Europe’s prosperity, competitiveness and security rest on a foundation that is too often taken for granted: stable liberal democracy. At a time of growing political fragmentation, short-termism, foreign interference, economic uncertainty and declining public trust, democratic systems are under pressure across Europe. For business, this is not an abstract political concern. Democracy protects the rule of law, guarantees fair competition, upholds contracts, supports innovation and provides the predictability companies need to invest, grow and lead. The European Democracy Summit will bring together business leaders, European institutions, policymakers, media and democratic reformers for a high-level conversation on the future of Europe’s democratic model, and the role business can play in strengthening it.

Our mission is twofold: we aim to bring politics and business together in order to provide them with an opportunity to debate and pursue their common goals, giving a voice to all sides of the debate. The other priority of EBS is to provide European institutions with a platform where they can place their top priorities in the spotlight and advance the development of new pieces of legislation through discussion with a variety of actors and stakeholders.
