The European Demographics Summit returns for its second edition, building on last year’s inaugural gathering by EBS as a high-level pan-European platform dedicated to addressing the far-reaching impacts of demographic change. Under this year’s theme, Between Births and Beds: Choices Today, Generations Tomorrow, the Summit will focus on the urgent choices Europe must make today to secure resilient, inclusive, and sustainable societies for future generations.
As Europe faces unprecedented demographic shifts, from declining birth rates and an ageing population to workforce shortages, care pressures, and insufficient support for younger generations, the Summit will bring together policymakers, business leaders, academics, and civil society representatives to explore forward-looking solutions. Discussions will examine how demographic trends intersect with Europe’s competitiveness, social cohesion, labour markets, care systems, and intergenerational fairness.
This year’s edition will also feature a special World Refugee Day screening of Allies in Exile, organised in conjunction with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. The documentary follows two Syrian filmmakers navigating exile and the UK asylum process, reflecting on war, displacement, friendship, and the power of storytelling.
